Good morning bloggers. So today I try and get back on my weight watchers program. Pretty hard after a fun holiday of no holds barred in the eating area. Of course, one should remember that it wasn't the eating that made the holiday fun.
David's really into his puffin wall. He wants to work on it every day. And yesterday evening I taught him how to make blinkies - compliments of Natalie's tutorial where I learned how a couple of days before. You should see David's blinkie. He had a great idea to create a new banner for his puffin wall and have a puffin scrolling across the banner. He made 15 frames for this. Stop by and check it out at: www.freewebs.com/spacestation2/puffinwall.htm. I've made another blinkie too - pretty fun. Thanks Nat.

I'm bummin' a little bit here - somebody's computer has a virus and its sending out email from my email address. I've forwarded one of the undeliverables to charter after talking with them and they said they can trace the origin. Has this happened to you ever?

My RQRD's are out of order - but here goes....
yes I like oatmeal but actually I go for a quicker breakfast yet - one I can eat at my desk usually - yogurt with fiber one or kashi cereal in it. And definately with coffee. And actually first thing in the morning I usually start with a diet coke.

On this day in 1610, Galileo discovered the moons of Jupiter. Now we have a robot on Mars! What do you think about the space program?
My initial answer would be that I think it's great because I enjoy science and learning about our world / universe etc is great and important. Sometimes though I think - maybe we shouldn't spend any money on this until we have solved world hunger and stuff like that, but I know that's not realistic. We have to continue to grow in knowledge even though many people are living in a crappy existence. You just can't save the world.

A late Monday madness from 1/5/04
Slang.........this week's questions are all about slang.
1. Do you use any slang words on a regular basis? I don't think so. If I do I don't realize it.
2. Is there any one slang word that really bothers you when you hear others use it? wassup really irks me. are people so lazy now that they can't enunciate a little bit.
3. Do you have a favorite slang word? no - i guess i'm kind of uppity - i think they encourage laziness - of course here i am not capitalizing a thing - that probably irks someone too.
4. What are your thoughts on adding slang words to the dictionary? bad idea. make laziness acceptable - just like sex on tv and the internet - lower the bar - the way of the world.
Moral of this monday madness - don't ask if you don't want the honest answer - because that's what I give.

Hi there - Happy Tuesday! Well, David and I have a new past time. We're both proud new members of the Puffin Friendship Wall. David saw me working on mine so then he wanted to make a patch and then all on his own he said.... couldn't I just make my own wall? Great idea! So he's cruisin'. Take a look: www.freewebs.com/spacestation2/puffinwall.htm
Thanks Nat for all your help.
Hey - I even learned how to make blinkies today using Natalie's tutorial. Great job on the instructions Nat. Thanks again. Love ya'

Random Questions; Random Days... Tuesday, December 30
Are you the type of person that makes New Year's Resolutions? If so, please share, if not, why?
Yes - sort of. Some years are more officially done than others. In the back of mind I almost always have that one about losing weight. This year it's more tangible because I've already lost 38 and I resolve to keep that off and make it down to my goal weight. Another 15 pounds or so. I've really enjoyed the holiday off time though. I'm hoping I can get back in the swing on Monday.
My other resolution is to try not to overcommit myself. We'll see how that goes.

Little did I know what December would have in store for us. Everything turned out ok in the end, but it was a rough ride. Rich was diagnosed with a bladder tumor and had surgery on 12/22. It took them 6 hrs to get him into a room so I didn't get to see him much after the surgery and felt really guilty about that, but it really worked out for the best because we had a few things to get done before David's school Christmas party. Rich's surgery went okay - but it took a lot out of him. The tumor was about the size of a ping pong ball and it was an 'old' tumor. But today we found out it was superficial, and had never invaded the bladder wall, so no oncologist needed. They're just going to check him every 3 months for 2 years, then every 6 for 3 more.
So anyway, I had pushed and pushed to get Christmas cards out, stuff made for David's party, house decorated, shopping done, presents wrapped. Then, guess who's sick for Christmas??? Me of course. Poor little David. Thank God he entertains himself fine with Nintendo so well because neither Rich or I were up to doing much with him. Not my vision of a great holiday, but he loved all his Nintendo time. So now Rich's brother is in town. I can't believe they didn't initially invite us to go out to dinner with them for New Years Eve. Corky had called the day before New Years Eve to tell us Dale was in town. We were on our way out to a movie so Rich didn't talk to them again until9:30 pm or so that night. Well, by then they had made plans to go out - just the 4 of them to a restaurant - told Rich about this then said we could go over to Corky's after they got back from dinner. Well, I blew a gasket and called her. I told her I was tired of Rich always being the afterthought visit. And here Dale came to MI supposedly a lot due to the fact that he'd had the surgery, and they didn't even think to invite us to go to dinner with them - oh - but we could meet them after dinner back at her house.
The next day I sucked it up and called her to apologize for saying anything, I told her I guess I should just let Rich work out his relationships on his own, but that I wanted them to see him. So anyway, later that day I suggested to Rich that they change the restaurant to Red Lobster where no reservations are needed or taken at all for that matter and we could all go. So that's what we did for New Years Eve. Then we went back to Corky's - and how lame is this??? The brother that came all that way to supposedly see Rich - the minute we got to Corky's both he and his wife crashed. He fell asleep on the couch until 5 minutes before the new year and she went to bed at 10:00. The things we do for the ones we love. Thank God for David - he wanted to play a game, so - that's what I did. I just would have rather have been with people who care more about us. Then for New Years Day we went to his nieces new house in Marion - yet another obligatory visit.
Corky put me on some guilt trip about not inviting them over enough, so we invited them over for dinner tonight or tomorrow, well they didn't call us back until 9:30 pm tonight and can't come tomorrow, but....maybe Sunday. So am I making dinner??? I don't know. I've never felt like his family likes to come over here. My house isn't clean or neat enough or something I don't know. But after the early years of feeling all stressed out about having them over I just quit asking. Not to mention that usually when you invite Cork and Ray it translates into her 2 kids and the 7 grandchildren. This just isn't my forte - I don't do the big group things well. I like small groups - so anyway - not a great holiday.
What went great??? Our Pastor knew we needed to have our driveway blown out on Christmas Day because I was sick and Rich couldn't do it due to the surgery and - guess what - he told us after church that he'd taken care of it. It would be done by 1:00. Guess who came out to do it? He did! What else went great? Dad offered to help us out with the snow blowing - and Mom helped out when Rich was having his surgery. Pam offered to come stay with us, and Natalie helped out by helping me better communicate my needs to people who could help. Thanks everybody. I love you all!
